Binibeca Resort Menorca
Binibeca is where we settled on to buy our own villa. Binibeca Resort Menorca is a picturesque and tranquil resort at the southeastern coast of Menorca. Some of the many reasons why we chose Binibeca resort Menorca to buy a villa are:
Quiet but with plenty of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance
Very handy for the airport – maximum 20 minutes by car from Mahon Airport, via Sant Lluis.
Close enough to Mahon for an evening out without too much driving
Local supermarket but “hypermarket” within a 10 minute drive just outside Sant Lluis
Superb beach
No high rise hotels
Binibeca resort Menorca stretches from Cala Torret (where our villa was located) in the East, passing through Binibeca Nou and up to Binibeca Vell in the West.
Whitewashed villas and apartments typify the entire area and Binibeca resort Menorca is a beautifully peaceful area and particularly suited to those searching for a relaxing family holiday in Menorca.
Binibeca Resort Menorca
During high season there is a wonderful “Resort Train” (It’s actually a tractor disguised as a steam train engine and has three or four carriages that it pulls along) that regularly travels the coast road between the resorts linking Binibeca Vell, Binibeca Nou, Binibeca Torret and also includes Punta Prima, which is another popular coastal resort, very close by to the Binibeca Resort Menorca.
Binibeca Vell to the west has been carefully and sensibly developed over the years and has a lot of privately owned apartments and villas. One of the features of Binibeca Vell is the excellent commercial centre with a choice of restaurants, bars, supermarkets and souvenir shops. There’s also a nightclub in the commercial area and even a Chinese restaurant offering takeouts, although the Chinese is a little retro by British standards. (Sweet and sour pork balls from the seventies spring to mind!). A particlarly picturesque attractions of Binibeca Vell is its Menorca styled fishing village designed by Spanish architect Antonio Sintes in 1972 which is a wonderful place to escape the sun and its ideal for families as it’s a traffic free zone.
Binibeca Beach
The beach at binibeca is a beautiful white sandy and shallow beach, gently sloping making it ideal for families with smaller kids. The beach also features the Los Bucaneros beach bar offering great food and drink with reasonable prices and plenty of outdoor seating. Along with good clean toilet facilities there are also sun loungers, parasols and watercrafts/kayaks available to hire on the beach. For those after some shade there is a picnic area towards the rear. There is easy access for wheelchairs as well as pushchairs to the beach bar and beach.
We’ ve loved Menorca and particularly Binibeca for years, I hope this short Menorca guide has been of some help to you and that we’ve helped you decide whether to visit
