Villas For Sale and To Rent on The Lovely Island of Menorca

Menorca Holiday

Why would you choose a

Menorca Holiday?

I’ve been lucky enough to try most types of Menorca Holiday.

My first Menorca Holiday was to the majestic Lord Nelson in Santo Tomas. We hired a car and drove all over the island with our young daughter. The hotel was very grand and offered good quality service, nice rooms and reasonable food, at what I considered to be a good value price at the time. (Young father with 9 year old daughter on a reasonable but not great wage!)

Several years later we were fortunate enough to be invited on another Menorca Holiday,  to stay with friends who owned a villa at S’Albufera, just outside Mahon. I suppose this Menorca Holiday was where our love affair with Menorca really took hold. Our friends were considering selling their villa (as they were having another one built at Cala Llonga) and we were definitely interested in buying. Set in the middle of a national park, the views were breathtaking and the peace and tranquility for our holiday with no children made the whole holiday a quite magical experience.

Menorca Holiday

It's a hard job but someone has to do it!

Of course the next Menorca Holiday was the one where we stayed at Son Parc and we undertook our search for our perfect holiday villa. On balance this was both the most uncomforable holiday and the most exciting. Also the hardest work Menorca Holiday you can imagine. Up at the crack of dawn each day and viewing property after property in that search for “The One!” Our room at Son Parc was not air conditioned and the old desk fan that we had taken with us died on the second night.  Hot August Night indeed!

Actually if you are looking for a reasonably priced Menorca Holiday, Son Parc offers some good facilities for families with children, a great beach, large pool and reasonable restaurants. Plus, if you want to keep up with current sporting events, several of the resort bars have large screen tv’s for the sports enthusiasts. If I were to categorise this Menorca Holiday, I would say, considering the self catering facilities, it was the equivalent of an apartment holiday, although to be fair, we ate out the whole week. The resort restaurants are reasonable price and quality, although you do have to be tolerant of other families’ kids enjoying themselves!

Son Parc also boasts the island’s only golf course, so I guess a Menorca Holiday that centres around golf is also a possibility, although I am not sure how demanding the course would be for more than a couple of rounds.

As our search for our perfect villa was successful, we subsequently spent a few years holidaying at our own villa, sometimes taking the children, sometimes inviting their friends to come along and on occasion inviting our own friends to stay with us – minus children. I don’t remember a bad holiday, but then, we seemed to always have good weather, so there was always plenty of swimming, walking and boating to do.

I have to hold my hands up and admit to the fact that I haven’t tried a camping

Menorca Holiday

I suppose we got used to the comfort of having our own place and the convenience of knowing exactly what to expect when we arrived. Of course the advancing years haven’t encouraged us to risk a camping Menorca Holiday either, although I am sure that with the right weather, camping could be fun with the right crowd.

On balance, for my wife and I, Menorca Villas have the edge as far as the perfect Menorca Holiday goes. If we were to visit the island again, I think we would choose to rent a villa, probably from Menorca Gold, who were our letting agents when we used to let out our own villa, as we know the level of service they give and the kind of minimum quality and villa facilities they demand from their owners.

We will be adding more reviews as time goes by, but for now we hope this information has helped you in your search for the perfect Menorca Holiday.
